My name is Jennifer McConnell and I have been in the fitness industry for over 25 years, most recently as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for the last decade.
After 16 years of coaching competitive gymnastics and after the birth of my second child, I decided to change focus and began working with adults. After losing over 80lbs postpartum on my own, I wanted to help others in their fitness journey. I became a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor through the YMCA where I was trained in TRX, Kettlebells, Stand-Up for Seniors, Yoga, Cycling and General Strength/Bootcamps. It was here that I was introduced to weightlifting and powerlifting.
I am a graduate of Larry Sheppard’s Strength and Sports Conditioning program and a member of team Canada for powerlifting. I have worked with all ages and skill levels- from those suffering from chronic conditions causing immobility to elite hockey players, volleyball players, skiers etc… and all abilities in between.
After suffering from adrenal fatigue and experiencing multiple health issues as a result, I began studying Buddhism, practising meditation and yoga regularly, and focused on nutrition for liver support. I started training for powerlifting from home and decided to leave my 3 jobs to open my personal gym space as a business. Absolute Strength and Movement was opened in 2018. I have continued to learn and grow personally and professionally, and I have recently added Reiki and Hypopressives Pelvic Floor practitioner to my list of services.
Through my own healing journey, I have welcomed a full mind, body and spirit connection and I share this approach with my clients. With importance placed on safe and correct technique, proper movement patterns and injury prevention, I believe that mindfulness in and out of the gym is essential to overall health and longevity- which inspired the re-brand to “Absolute Strength and Wellness."

TRX is a suspension training system that provides access to a variety of body weight exercises that help develop strength, balance, mobility and core all at the same time, with the use of the suspension training system that increases or decreases difficult, based on the leverage used.
